The Rupahihat police have apprehended an individual for smuggling gecko lizards on Saturday night in Assam’s Barpeta.
Acting on special inputs, the police conducted a raid at his residence and recovered five live gecko lizards which were hidden in a fish carton.
The smuggler was identified as Zahirul Islam who was reportedly involved in illegal wildlife trade.
The police are now interrogating the smuggler to uncover further details about his operations and connections.
