KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi, in a press meet organised on Sunday, alleged that the BJP and RSS do not want the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) to be published. "Flood is a lame excuse for delay in publishing the final draft of NRC" Gogoi said.
It may be mentioned here that the final draft of NRC was supposed to be published on June 30.
State NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela informed that the final draft of NRC could not be published as the recent wave of flood disrupted the verification process. However, alleging conspiracy, Akhil Gogoi said "The whole of Assam has not witnessed severe floods. Prateek Hajela is just making excuses to delay the publication. It is nothing but part of a plan by BJP and RSS."
"Only parts of few districts across Assam were affected by flood. They could have published the NRC for the rest of the districts which were not affected by floods. But why was that not done?" Akhil added.
Gogoi also alleged that the BJP and RSS have been hatching plans for a clash in Assam.
