Anti Sonowal remarks put BJP IT cell members in trouble
Updated on:

Assam Police has swooped on a number of BJP IT cell members across the state for fanning communal tension and making derogatory remarks on the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal arresting one, detaining three and on the lookout for a dozen more.

In a coordinated action, Police already picked up one Nitu Bora in Morigaon, Noni Gopal Dutta in Tinsukia while Udalguri police are looking for one Dibya and Baska police has summoned one Hemanta.

The development has shocked and embarrassed the BJP insiders as CMO acted quickly but out side the party Mr Sonowal was hailed.

All of them are active members of the BJP IT cell and very actively they have been making strong remarks which Chief Minister felt that could lead to communal tension.

Many of them had held Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his failure in maintaining law and order machinery and demanded Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma as the Home Minister.

Police informed that they had got complaints from the CMO and accordingly these four are being detailed.

Earlier, Nitu Bora was arrested by the Morigaon Police on Thursday for making objectionable remarks against a particular community on social media.

Identified as Nitu Bora, the member of BJP IT and Media cell has been arrested in connection with a case- 500/19 registered in the Morigaon Police Station. As per the reports, Nitu Bora made controversial remarks against a particular community and allegedly also made objectionable remarks against Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

"It was alleged that he had posted some content on social media which could hurt religious sentiments," said an officer of Morigaon PS.
