PM Modi Meets Prafulla Mahanta’s Family, Wishes Speedy Recovery

Former Assam Chief Minister and senior AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on Tuesday said that the BJP has no moral right to be in power in State as AGP has pulled out of the alliance. Holding BJP responsible for the break-up, Mahanta asked the party to step down from the government and go for fresh mandate.

"This is an alliance government, not the BJP government. It was a pre-poll alliance. All decisions and policies have to be discussed with allies," Mahanta said, while addressing a press conference in Guwahati.

Terming the Centre's decision to grant ST status to six communities in Assam as an election bait, Mahanta asked why the Central government had not done anything in the last four years?

Welcoming the decisions taken by AGP leaders, Mahanta said, "The decision to break the alliance is most welcome. Though it is late but a good step."
