BJP wins Inner Manipur LS seat

BJP's RK Ranjan Singh, who came third in the last 2014 parliamentary elections, managed to pull a victory in Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat defeating nearest rival Indian National Congress (INC).

Ranjan received a total poll of 261802 as per a statement issued by the CEO office.

The BJP representative achieved 16, 830 higher number of votes than his Congress rival O Nabakishore.

Of all the 32 assembly constituencies which comprises of Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat, BJP's Ranjan received highest votes numbering 20176 from Chief Minister's N Biren Singh constituency of Heingang.

He received the least votes from Uripok Constituency numbering just 3583.

Popular and senior CPI politician Nara Singh who contested the elections received 133093 votes.

The CEO statement also maintained that atleast 2570 chose to opt for NOTA.

The 2019 parliamentary elections in the state saw Manipur Guv Najma Heptulla had created history by becoming the first governor to cast her vote at TG Higher Secondary School, on the second phase of the Parliamentary elections on April 18 last.

9,28,626 voters including 480751 female voters exercised their franchise at 1300 polling stations, for Inner Manipur comprising of 32 assembly constituencies and recorded high turnout of 80.47 percent.

The polls were marked by stray incidents of violence prompting the Election Commission of India to order repoll for 12 polling stations on May 24 last, CEO PK Singh had then informed.

Elections was held on April 11 and voter turnout was recorded a little more than 75 per cent.
