Assam Publishes Draft BTC Voter List After Delimitation; 81 Villages Added

In a significant move ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for all 40 constituencies under the Council were officially published today. This draft incorporates the inclusion of 81 newly added villages within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), following the recent delimitation exercise conducted by the Government of Assam.

The additions were made pursuant to the delimitation notification (No. E-344949/1364) dated June 25, 2025, issued by the State Government. With this, the electoral landscape of the region has undergone a noteworthy reconfiguration ahead of the upcoming BTC polls.

Key Statistics of the Draft Electoral Roll:

  • Total Number of BTC Constituencies: 40

  • Total Polling Stations: 3,277

  • Total Electors: 26,69,399

    • Male: 13,29,742

    • Female: 13,39,637

    • Others: 17

The increase in the number of electors reflects the expanding administrative boundaries and enhanced voter registration coverage following the delimitation and inclusion of new villages in the region.

Public Access and Verification:

To ensure transparency and public participation, the Draft Electoral Rolls (without photographs) have been made accessible for scrutiny at the following locations across the BTC area:

  1. Office of the Circle Officer

  2. Office of the Block Development Officer

  3. Municipalities, Town Committees, Sub-Registrar Offices, Police Stations

  4. Tea Garden offices

  5. Gaon Panchayat and Village Council Development Committee offices within the constituency

In addition to physical copies, the Draft Roll is also available online through the OERMS portal [https://ermssec.assam.gov.in] and the official websites of the respective District Administrations.

Electors can verify their inclusion in the rolls by entering their EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) number or by downloading the roll of their respective polling stations from the “Citizen Corner” on the portal.

Claims and Objections:

The Assam State Election Commission has invited eligible citizens to inspect the rolls and raise any claims or objections to the entries. The window for filing claims and objections remains open till August 5, 2025.

Forms and procedures for filing claims or objections are available both at the offices of the Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), as well as on the websites of the District Administration and State Election Commission. Citizens may also contact their local RO/ARO offices for further assistance.

Officials have urged all eligible voters, especially those in the newly included villages, to verify their names and make necessary corrections or additions within the stipulated timeline.

The publication of the Draft Rolls marks a crucial step in the preparations for the BTC elections, ensuring a comprehensive and updated electoral base for democratic participation in the region.
