Veteran Bodo Actor Meghnath Muchahary Passes Away in Kokrajhar

Renowned Bodo character actor and retired teacher Meghnath Muchahary passed away on Thursday afternoon at his residence in Kokrajhar town. He was in his 70s and had been suffering from age-related ailments.

Muchahary was a prominent figure in Bodo cultural and educational circles. Widely respected for his roles in Bodo cinema, he is best remembered for his performance in Alayaron, the first-ever Bodo feature film, which holds a special place in the region’s cinematic history.

Apart from his artistic contributions, Muchahary was a dedicated educator. He served as a teacher at Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School, from where he retired. Even after retirement, he remained active in various social causes, earning admiration from the community.

His demise has triggered a wave of grief across Kokrajhar and beyond, with tributes pouring in from cultural organizations, former students, and fellow educators, who hailed his lasting impact on Bodo society through cinema, education, and social service.
