Yet another journalist was attacked, this time in Assam's  Jorhat district.The journalist  was identified as Rajiv Borah, former editor of Jorhat Press Club. Rajiv Borah is now serving as a President of E-Media and also works with DY365. Rajiv Borah was attacked by a gang of 5 miscreants in KB Road near Doss nd Co.

According to sources the journalist got severe injury in head. He was rushed to the Jorhat Medical College  and later shifted to Sanjivani Hospital  for better treatment. The incident took place just near the Jorhat Police Station.

Jorhat police, however, is successful in arresting one culprit who was involved in the attack. Police identified the miscreant as JyotiPrasad Das.

In a separate incident in Nalbari district,  Rajen Deka who works with Dainik Asom, one of the oldest Assamese daily, was severely injured when miscreants attacked him on his way home at Mukalmua, around 56 kilometre from Guwahati, late Thursday evening. Police could successfully arrest two persons who were being involved in the attack in Nalbari. Hemanga Medhi and Jintumoni Deka were arrested.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the incident. Journalists' Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed serious concern over the physical assaults on two journalists of the state in separate incidents and urged the authorities to take stringent actions against the culprits.

Media Fraternity reiterates their old demand for a special protection law to safeguard the scribes across India. Moreover they have urged the media fraternity to come together and pursue quality journalism as it becomes need of the hour.
