Ashocking incident has come into the light in Biswanath, where a smallentrepreneur was outcast from the Sankaradeva Sangha for running a broiler farmand a piggery business at their home in Ghahigaon area. The Sangha banned thefamily of Balendra Nath from attending any kind of social functions for runninga broiler farm and a piggery.

Meanwhile,the decision of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha received widespread criticismsacross the State. Reacting to the development, Secretary of SrimantaSankaradeva Sangha said that there was no rule in the constitution of theSangha that its members cannot run a broiler farm or a piggery business attheir home.

Speakingto Pratidin Time, Sangha Secretary, Babul Bora said, "There is no suchrule in our constitution against broiler farm or a piggery. The decision wastaken by the Sangha unit itself. However, we asked for a detailed report fromthe Afrakhat unit regarding the incident."

Executive member of the Sangha, Nabakrishna Rajkhowa also reiterated that the constitution of the Sangha does not speak against broiler farm or a piggery.

Notably, as per a notification of the Afrakhat unit of the Sangha, a decision was taken by the Madhya Chaiduar Anchalik Branch to bar the members of the Sangha, who runs broiler farm or a piggery in their houses.
