Leaders of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and North East Students' Organisation (NESO) on Wednesday called on Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai and discussed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill with him.
Later speaking to media, AASU and NESO leaders expressed that Shiv Sena has assured them to oppose the Bill at the Parliament. They were also told by Uddhav Thackeray that Shiv Sena will also urge other political parties to oppose the Bill in Parliament. The Shiv Sena also informed the leaders of AASU and NESO that they are with the people of Assam and other Northeastern States of the country.
Notably, despite being in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Shiv Sena has been continuously opposing the contentious Bill.
