CAB: KMSS takes out torchlight rally

With the Centre all set topass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the ongoing winter session of theParliament, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) took out an anti-Bill rallyin Guwahati on Wednesday evening.

The rally witnessed theparticipation of hundreds of people. The protesters rallied from Guwahati Clubto Chandmari area in the city.

The KMSS members shouted various slogans against the government and said that they would not accept the divisive policy of the government in the name of religion.

Speaking to reporters, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said, "Under no circumstance can the anti-indigenous people CAB be accepted by our State as 1.9 crores Hindu Bangladeshis will come to Assam and threaten the existence of the Assamese language besides taking up the jobs, rendering the local people unemployed."

"This is a time of greatcrisis for the people of Assam. We cannot allow Assam to become a dumpingground of Hindu Bangladeshis. It is a conspiracy to turn the Assamese communityinto a linguistic minority and make us politically weaker," said a protester.

It may be mentioned herethat the Centre is like to pass the contentious CAB at the Union Cabinetmeeting scheduled to take place at 9:30 am on Wednesday.
