In a sensational incident, Khumtai BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia allegedly attacked a local youth of Betioni village under the constituency on Tuesday night for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
"We staged a protest in our village against the bill and burnt the effigies of ministers and MLAs including Mrinal Saikia. Later, he came and attack some of the youths, who took part in the protest." said a youth from the village. The villagers alleged that the MLA threatened them with dire consequences.
Meanwhile,a case has been registered against the MLA regarding the incident.
