CBI conducts surprise checks in Guwahati

In a few surprise checks, CBI carried out a joint operation with the vigilance teams of the central government departments and public sectors undertakings in several places of Guwahati.

However, the places where the surprise checks had been carried out had not been disclosed by the CBI.

The checks were carried out at 150 places across the country. Other than Guwahati, the checks had been conducted in Delhi, Jaipur, Srinagar, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Bhopal, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Ghaziabad, Lucknow and Dehradun. 

According to sources the exercise was carried out in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message of ease of living.

It may be noted that departments such as the railways, coal mines, coalfields, medical and health care organisations, customs and FCI were the places where the checks were conducted.
