Assam celebrates the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi to pay respect to the elephant faced god who is believed to remove obstacles in human life and bless with prosperity today.
Guwahati's Ganesh temples of Ganeshguri, Latashil, Kahilipara and Lalganesh have been decorated extensively and the devotees have been offering prayers to idols of the elephant-headed Hindu God.
Public celebrations are also being held in most parts of the state capital with huge Ganesh idols placed inside decorative marquees.
With the spirit to put in their best efforts to worship Lord Ganesha, people decorate their houses, communities and temples with the idols of the Elephant God, Ganesha.
