During his visit to the eviction camps near Hasila Beel in Goalpara, Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, likening him to Adolf Hitler and accusing the BJP-RSS regime of orchestrating religious provocation and social unrest in the state.
Addressing the media after meeting families displaced by recent eviction drives, Gogoi alleged that the Chief Minister has unleashed a wave of oppression targeting Assam’s religious minorities, similar to the persecution of Jews under Hitler’s regime.
“Just as Hitler brutalised the Jewish people, Himanta Biswa Sarma is systematically targeting religious minorities in Assam. This is not governance—it’s oppression,” Gogoi said.
He cited recent incidents such as the alleged placement of beef in temples and pork in mosques, followed by the vandalism of temple idols, claiming these were not isolated acts but part of a larger conspiracy by the ruling dispensation.
“These acts are not coincidental. They are calculated moves by the BJP and RSS to inflame communal tensions, to pit Hindus and Muslims against each other, all for electoral gains,” he said.
Gogoi went further to assert that the BJP’s goal is to exploit religious fault lines to polarise the electorate ahead of elections. “Each act—be it desecration or provocation—is a tool to cross the electoral ‘Vaitarani’. This is their path to power, through division and hate,” he stated.
The legislator demanded a direct meeting with Chief Minister Sarma to discuss the alleged oppression of minorities and the need to stop what he called "state-sponsored communal engineering."
