The national manifesto of Congress party was re-released today by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) along with an additional booklet focusing on Assam for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The manifesto was re-released at the Rajiv Bhawan here by the party's national leader and finance minister of Punjab, Manpreet Singh Badal. APCC president Ripun Bora released the booklet featuring key issues aimed primarily to Assam at the same function.
Several issues pertaining to Assam and the north-eastern States including the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) have been highlighted in the Congress election manifesto, released on Wednesday.
The States in the North East have a special place and there are special provisions in the Constitution For the North Eastern States, the Congress promises to,
(a) Restore Special Category status to the North Eastern States.
(b) Withdraw the infamous Citizenship Amendment Bill, which caused widespread resentment.
(c) Enhance financial assistance to the Autonomous District Councils in acknowledgement of their importance to the North Eastern States.
(d) Congress will provide all the legal help to Indian citizens who are not included in the NRC.
(e) Congress to revive Nagaon, Cachar paper mills, if comes to power.
(f) The poll promise document amongst a host of key ideas has focused majorly on the issues of unemployment and job creation.
