Even as Kamrup Metro district has relaxed the lockdown on several counts from July 20, and Jorhat has decided to follow suit from Thursday, people in the state are still getting infected by the deadly contagion.
1093 fresh positive cases were reported across Assam on Monday. Of these, 448 cases were from Guwahati city alone.
This was informed by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter. He wrote, "Alert! 1093 new COVID19 ve+ patients in Assam today with 448 cases from Guwahati City."
However, with 20000 plus tests carried out on Monday, the positivity rate is only 5%.

The total active cases now stand at 7936. The virus has claimed 58 lives so far.
