With testing being ramped up in the state, more COVID-19 cases are coming to light. The surge can also be attributed to the lockdown relaxations being announced by the government for the convenience of the public.
In the past 24 hours, 2792 new cases were found across Assam out of 49510 tests.
While Kamrup (M) accounted for 458 cases, Dibrugarh and Cachar accounted for 225 and 195 cases respectively.

With these, the total cases have jumped to 79667. The total death toll stands now at 197, with 8 more deaths today.
