One more person died in Assam after getting infected with COVID-19 today. The deceased's name is Devi Kakati, a resident of Kamrup. She was admitted to 151 Base Hospital, Basistha on July 2. The patient was also suffering from Type II Diabetes and hypertension.
This has been informed by Assam's Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today. He tweeted in this regard, "Loss of one more precious life! Anguished to share passing away of Late Smt Devi Kakati of Kamrup. She was admitted to 151 Base Hospital, Basistha, on July 2 & diagnosed COVID-19+ with Type II Diabetes and hypertension. Despite best efforts we lost her. My heartfelt condolences."

With this death, the state lost two lives on a single day to the deadly contagion. Earlier in the day, Dhadaram Mura (40) of Kaliabor, Nagaon succumbed to the virus. He was undergoing treatment at GMCH after being admitted on July 1. He was having severe pneumonia and septic shock.
The death toll of Assam now stands at 16.
