Acouple from Kopoushua in Titabor allegedly committed suicide on Friday,reportedly owing to heavy debts. The deceased were identified as Gupoda Saikia(55) and Niroda Saikia (50).
According to locals, the couple had borrowed money from a self-help group. Though they had repaid some part of the money, the self-help group was pressurising them for the remaining amount.
Meanwhile,police were informed about the incident and the bodies were likely to be sentto the government hospital for post-mortem.
