In a distressing incident, a 12-year-old boy , who was reportedly saddened over not receiving new clothes for the Durga Puja festivities, leaped off a bridge and into the river at Golakganj in Assam’s Dhubri district.
The deceased has been identified as Suman Roy, a student of class 8 at Gaikhowa Gandhigram Middle School.
Family members of the young boy, disclosed that his disappointment over not having new attire for the special occasion had left him in a state of despair. It was during this moment of distress that he made the drastic decision to jump into the Gadadhar river, leaving those around him in utter shock.
Upon receiving alerts from local residents, the police and SDRF teams swiftly arrived at the scene, launching immediate rescue operations. Regrettably, despite their unwavering efforts, the search for the missing boy has thus far yielded no success.
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the emotional vulnerability of children and underscores the critical importance of addressing their needs and concerns with utmost sensitivity.
