Disang River Brings Threat to Villagers

A village in Upper Assam is completely under threat due to erosion inthe Disang River and the villagers are in danger as their houses might bewashed away in the River.

It was year after year that the villagers have to face the problem oferosion and although it has been repeatedly informed to the government, theyare least bothered to solve the problem. The 1 No Keseruguri village underBorbam Panchayat in Tingkhong is under threat since years due to the erosion inthe Disang River. Many agricultural lands have been breached in the erosionevery year for which the farmers have to undergo huge loss. Many houses in thevillage are reeling under threat but still the government remains blind.

The villagers alleged that none of the government has taken anymeasures to prevent flood and erosion problem in the village and if this will continuethen the village will be breached away in the erosion of the Disang River.

The villagers also urged the Sonowal government to solve the longpending flood and erosion problem in the area in order to keep the village safefrom erosion.
