With only three days left for polling in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, the political parties as well as the candidates across the country stepped up campaigning. The campaigning for the first phase will end on Tuesday. 91 parliamentary constituencies spread over 20 States and Union Territories will go to polls in this phase on April 11.

In Assam, five parliamentary constituencies will go to polls in this phase. The constituencies are: Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur.

Here are some details about the constituencies:

Tezpur: As many as 7 candidates are in the fray for the Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency. BJP candidate and Assam minister Pallab Lochan Das will contest election from the seat against Congress' MGVK Bhanu.

  • Total voters in Tezpur: 14,94,878
  • Male voters: 7,63,599
  • Female voters: 7,31,248
  • Transgender voters: 31
  • Total polling stations: 1,880

Kaliabor: In Kaliabor, there are also 7 candidates in the fray for the seat. Congress' sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi will fight against AGP's Moni Madhab Mahanta from the seat.

  • Female voters: 8,48,174

  • Total polling stations: 2,174

Jorhat: There are 8 candidates in the fray for the Jorhat Lok Sabha seat. BJP candidate and Assam minister Topon Kumar Gogoi will contest against Congress' Sushanta Borgohain.

Dibrugarh: In Dibrugarh, there are also 8 candidates in the fray for the seat. BJP's sitting MP Rameswar Teli will contest against Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Lakhimpur: As many as 11 candidates are in the fray for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency. Congress' Anil Borgohain will fight for the seat against sitting BJP MP Pradan Baruah.
