Fresh flood hits Gogamukh

A fresh wave of floods has hit Gogamukh in Dhemaji district of Assam.

The increasing levels of water have submerged more than 40 villages in the area. Water from Jiadhal-Kumotia and Nonoi has wreaked havoc on the villages.

The sudden turn of events has spread panic among the people of the area.

Torrential rain, landslides and flash floods recently wreaked havoc in several parts of North East India, claiming numerous lives in Manipur, Assam, Tripura and Mizoram. The flood had claimed 24 lives in Assam.

However, Hailakandi has taken a sigh of relief as the flood situation has finally started to improve. Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan said that the flood situation has improved and water has gone below the danger mark in all three major rivers.
