Ganesh Chaturthi observed in Assam
Updated on

Assam celebrates the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi to pay respect to the elephant faced god who is believed to remove obstacles in human life and bless with prosperity today.

Guwahati's Ganesh temples of Ganeshguri, Latashil, Kahilipara and Lalganesh have been decorated extensively and the devotees  have been offering prayers to idols of the elephant-headed Hindu God. Like every year, a 111 kg 'ladoo' has been prepared as an offering to lord Ganesha at Latashil Ganesh Temple.

Public celebrations are also being held in most parts of the state capital with huge Ganesh idols placed inside decorative marquees.

A Ganesh temple was inaugurated at Barpeta today on the occasion of Ganesh chaturthi.
