Paravati Prasad Baruah award for Idris Ali

The Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam has conferred Geetikobi Paravati Prasad Baruah award to noted writer,lyricist  Professor Idris Ali. The prestigious award has been delivered to Ali in a function organized in Sankardev Kalakhsetra auditorium on Tuesday evening.

The award introduced for the first time carries a citation and a cash prize of rupees two lakh among others.

Parvati Prasad Baruva was a noted poet, lyricist, and dramatist: an icon of Assamese literature and the culture of Assam. Known for his simple and sensitive use of the Assamese language, he is popularly known as the Geetikavi; the lyrical poet of Assam.
