"Drive Against Drunken Driving A total of 47 people were intercepted for drunk driving last night. Their licenses are being suspended & a Fine of ?10,000/- being imposed on them" ,the traffic police department in a tweet said.
The traffic police, earlier on Friday said that to ensure no accidents take place during the New Year, the police will be on strict vigil to track down drunk drivers in the city.
Traffic police officials have said that during the New Year, they have taken a strategic plan to prevent accidents in the city.
To prevent reckless driving and overspeeding cases, special measures and steps are being taken.
Apart from that, to prevent cases of drunk driving, a special drive has also been initiated.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered the police department to ensure that no accidents take place during the New Year celebrations.
