An eviction drive was launched by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation in the wee hours of Monday morning at Fancy Bazar.
As many as 70 illegal street shops were evicted by the GMC authorities. The drive began at 5 am at the Old Jail Road area.
As per officials of the GMC an eviction notice was served earlier.
The eviction drive was conducted as part of the COVID preventive measures.
