Congress' Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora on Wednesday demanded a CBI inquiry in regard to the Rs 4,141 Crore scam of Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd (HPCL).
As per reports, the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Golinvested the huge Funds to the tune of Rs 4,141 Crores in Hindustan PaperCorporation Ltd (A CPSE & Gol is holding 100% ownership) Assam.
(Accounting Year 2014-15: Rs 1,141 Crore, + 2015-16: Rs. 1,000 Crore, + 2016-17: Rs. 1,000 Crore, +2017-18: Rs. 1,000 Crore, Total= Rs 4141 Crore)
Launching a blistering attack in upper house, Bora demandedthe government to initiate a high-level investigation to dig out the truths andto bring culprit if any into justice so as to ensure that the Public Money maybe protected from embezzlement.
Paradoxically, during these periods production of both theIndustries suspended due to dearth of "Working Capital" and 57workers & employees attained premature death including three of themcommitted suicide due to various compelling Circumstances owing to nonpaymentof Salary & Statutory dues since last 30 months or more, moreover due to nonpaymentof only Rs 98 Lakh dues to a creditor the Corporation which is having assetsvalue of not less than Rs 5000 Crore and providing source of employments to twoLakh people in the State of Assam and adjoining States ordered for Liquidationby NCLT vides order dated 02-05-2019.
Considering the instant above report as authentic it may beconcluded beyond any doubt that the entire funds either not invested in HPC orhas been misappropriated which caused destruction of National Heavy Industriesof Assam.
