India celebrates 70th Republic Day today

India is celebrating 70^th Republic day today. The main function of the Republic Day is being organized at Rajpath in the National Capital where President Ram Nath Kovind will take the salute of the parade and the flypast.

This year, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa is the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade. Apart from Ramaphosa, 58 eminent personalities from all over the world will be a part of the Republic Day Parade.

The Republic Day Parade Ceremony will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the nation in paying homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to the people of the country on the occasion of Republic Day.

Tableau from different states and various ministries and departments will also be displayed along with a  cultural pageant including performances by school children. Sualkuchi, is the theme of the official tableau of Assam for the Republic Day Parade .

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also extended wishes on the occasion of Republic Day.

Along with several places of Assam, Republic Day is also being celebrated at Veterinary Field Khanapara centrally. Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi hoisted the tricolor and delivered his speech.

In connection with Republic day, several programs have been arranged in the state.
