The blockade brought hundreds of vehicles, including those from long distances, to a complete halt along the national highway, causing a major traffic disruption.

Background

The protest stems from the recent killing of a youth named Prabhash Doley, a resident from Misamora village in Jonai's Dekapam. According to sources, Doley had gone to work as labourer in the Chimpu area of Kurung Kumey district in Arunachal Pradesh. On the night of June 18, he was allegedly murdered by Tai Jon, a local of Kurung Kamey.

TMPK Demands Fast-Track Probe

Terming the incident as a "barbaric and targeted attack," TMPK demanded a fast-track investigation and exemplary punishment for the accused. The organisation also called for adequate compensation and justice for the victim's family.

In a strongly worded statement, TMPK warned that if the Arunachal Pradesh government fails to ensure justice and punish the culprit, more intensified blockades would be enforced in the near future. These may include complete shutdowns of all entry routes connecting Arunachal Pradesh with Assam. TMPK also highlighted a recurring pattern of incidents where several people from Assam, who travels to Arunachal Pradesh for work, face harassment, mental torture, and, in extreme cases, fatal attacks by certain miscreants.
