Kumar Sanjay Krishna, the Chief Secretary of Assam, released the revised guidelines of lockdown relaxations on Sunday.

The Chief Secretary tweeted, "Keeping the Public Convenience in view the Lockdown orders issued on July 4 has been revised in Kamrup Metropolitan District. People are requested to strictly maintain all COVID-19 protocols as there has been a significant spike in positive cases in Guwahati".

The guidelines state that all stand-alone Grocery shops would be allowed to operate between 11 AM and 4 PM from Monday to Friday i.e. July 6 to July 10. Shopkeepers and customers have been instructed to wear masks, hand gloves, and maintain social distancing.

The release added, the responsibility of maintenance of social distancing will be on the shop owner and failure to do so will be viewed very seriously and may entail summary closure of defaulting shops. The maintenance of the price line and prevention of artificial shortage will be the responsibility of shop keepers and the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department.

Whole sellers of grocery items are allowed to refill stocks of retailers on Sunday, July 5, and Tuesday, July 7 between 12 noon and 6 PM.

The release further added, house to house sale of fruits and vegetables etc. will be allowed between 8 AM and 2 PM on Monday and Wednesday, July 6 and 8.

No roadside vending of any fruit, vegetable, fish et cetera is permitted.

Meanwhile, the release also stated all other restrictions as imposed vide order no. ASDMA.24/2020/Part-1/76 dated 26. June 2020 and ASDMA.20/2020/ 83 dated 4th July 2020 shall remain in place.
