The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), Karbi Students' Association (KSA) and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) have deployed 24-hour Karbi Anglong district bandh from 5am on Tuesday.
The bandh has been called to demand Central Government for the creation of a separate autonomous hill State.
The leaders of the organizations stated that the people of Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and West Karbi Anglong had all along been aspiring for a State of its own. This is a more than five-decade-old demand of the hill people. But, government has been ignoring their demands.
