Kidnapping thwarted as abductor flees fearing locals

After all the panic spread across Assam over rumour mongering, in a recent incident, intervention of locals has thwarted plans of an alleged kidnapping of a two-year old girl in Nagaon district on Tuesday.

Reportedly, an unknown man broke into a house at Bhalukmari in Lanka area around 8 pm and asked the mother to hand over her daughter to him.

Upon refusal, the man allegedly attacked her, snatched the child and started running. The mother chased the man and eventually, the man left the child and fled as the locals rushed to the scene.

Shortly after the incident, police had arrived on the scene and has launched an operation to trace the suspected abductor.
