There are two institutions of higher education born out of the signing of the Assam Accord, namely the Tezpur Central University and the Assam University in Silchar.

These measures included establishment of Srimanta SankaradevaKalakshetra complex with a financial support of Rs 20.35 crore; modernisationand upgrade of Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio Society in Guwahati; financialassistance of Rs 69.45 crore to 359 satras of Assam; financial assistance of Rs10 crore for 14 historical monuments for their protection, preservation anddevelopment; establishment of an autonomous institution billed AnundoramBorooah Institute of Language Art and Culture Assam (ABILAC) with the aim toresearch and development of indigenous languages, art and culture of the Stateand establishment of two Central universities at Tezpur and Silchar.
