It may be mentioned that, large-scale eviction drive took place at the Phukanhat Milon Nagar area in Lakhimpur district yesterday. The administration carried out the eviction drive in VGR (Village Grazing Reserve) spanning 288 bighas of land that it alleges to have been occupied illegally by the evictees. Eviction of 218 families took place in this huge swathe of land.

Following the uproar, MLA Manab Deka promised to provide Chetia's family with high-quality paddy seeds developed and selected by the state’s agricultural university.

However, Gungun, has publicly rejected the quality of seeds provided post-eviction, demanding better support for genuine indigenous cultivators like him.

Speaking to media persons today, Gungun said, "We cannot accept the paddy seeds provided by the government now. The seedlings are too tall and uneven. One part has no water, while another part has too much. We've never planted such inconsistent seedlings before."

She further added, "We cannot transplant these seedlings. It would be better if the government gives them to the flood-affected people instead."
