The smooth sail of around two-year-old Sarbananda Sonowal government in Assam has hit the major barrier on the law and order issues.
On Saturday, Assam Police has detained seventeen former ULFA militants to lessen terrorism activities in the state.
Police took them in custody for questioning. Assam Police and investigation agency have believed that the terrorism incidents have been taking place under the aegis of ULFA-I.
Investigation agency reported that under aegis of former ULFA militant and leaders 'Law and order situation worsening in State'. The BJP government already started to deftly build its image as a dispensation with zero-tolerance towards corruption and law and order.
However, a spate of terrorism activities over the last few days has put a question mark over tall claims of the state government with regards to improving law and order machinery.
Many innocent people were brazenly shot dead by unknown miscreants for a long time. The miscreants are still at large and local traders have intensified their agitation over the incidents to highlight criminals having a field day in the state.
Besides, there have been various incidents of theft cases in temples, kidnapping cases and caste conflicts in few districts in the past few weeks, which have cast a shadow on the law and order machinery in the state under Sonowal Government.
The opposition members lash out over the alleged deteriorating law and order situation. The opposition members had flagged issues of law and order, besides the mysterious murder cases of Dhola, Demow, Dadara Bank officer etc.
