In a letter to Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, State Excise minister Parimal Suklabaidya has asked Assam Government and concerned department to impose ban on import of Lali gur from outside the state of Assam.
"The exact reason of the Hooch tragedy can be ascertained only after completion of enquiry and receipt of report of Forensic Science to keep check on such incidents in future, we may perhaps impose ban on import of Lali gur from outside the state of Assam as it is considered as the major ingredient used for preparation of illicit liquor in the state if the import storage and sale of Lalli gur is controlled, then the production of Sulai liquor can be reduced to a great extent and will help to prevent occurrence of such tragic incidents in future"- Suklabaidya said.
