Ministers, SPs & MLAs involved in supari syndicate : Akhil

Under the patronage of powerful ministers and the local MLAs of the Sonowal-led State Government, the supari syndicate is going on in Assam. This was alleged by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief adviser Akhil Gogoi at a press meet here on Saturday.

He clearly alleged that a large-scale illegal supari syndicate was going on under the patronage of few ministers, SPs and MLAs. As a result, the government had lost crores of rupees of taxes due to alleged syndicate raj.

The Kamrup Police has summoned the Editor of Asomiya Pratidin Nitya Bora for publishing a news story on Supari syndicate in the state. The story had revealed many secret information regarding the huge and uncontrolled syndicate raj.

Launching a blistering attack on Kamrup Superintendent of Police, Parthasarathi Mahanta, Gogoi said that why the administration issued summon to the editor in stead of taking action against the accused? Had the administration checked the CCTV visuals?

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) alleged that top officials of Assam police held a meeting with International Supari (Areca nut) Mafia at Hotel Taj Vivanta on Tuesday night.

It has been alleged that a secret meeting was held at Hotel Taj Vivanta between Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district Manabendra Roy and supari mafias so that the administration couldn't interfere in the syndicate raaj in the state.

Gogoi also alleged that in the illegal syndicate, a section of superior officers were involved and the supari syndicate was controlled by the supervision of few Superintendent of Police (SPs) in the state.

He appealed to the Sarbananda Sonowal government to take immediate action to stop the syndicate raj as soon as possible.
