The Guwahati police arrested two accused of kidnapping and raping a minor girl on the evening of Sunday at the outskirts of the city.
The accused have been identified as Dipen Bora (30) and Zakir Hussain (29), both are residents of Nagaon, an investigator said.
According to sources, the two accused kidnapped the girl from Gorchuk on Saturday evening and took her to a house located in Koinadhara where they allegedly raped her. The girl somehow managed to escape on Sunday morning and reached her home where she narrated the horror to her parents.
In the meantime the family reported the incident to the police and lodged a complaint with the Basistha PS. Based on the complaint, the police launched a search operation and netted the accused within 24 hours. Locals have demanded stern action against the accused.
