More discharged, than active COVID case in Assam

As Guwahati gears up for a massive 50,000 tets to checkcommunity spreading,, in overall Assam for the first time recorded higher recoveredCovid-19 positive case than the active cases.

This morning as per the latest information available,  2093 active cases in Assam while 2205recovered as the total case of positive stands at 4309.

This is a good sign as the daily increase has also remained more or less static despite some concern over some new cases having no travel history hinting that in Guwahati, the community transmission has already taken place.

Here are the tally of discharge and new cases as well as released cases in the past one week.

Daily Cases of Assam

The trend has clearly shown that unless something dramatichappens over the past one week, the active cases in Assam will be around2500-3000.

As many as 245 COVID-19 patients were discharged fromvarious hospitals on Monday with the State achieving a recovery rate of 53 percent.

Guwahati too continued to record fresh positive cases withnew areas being declared as containment zones. The total number of containmentzones in the Kamrup (Metro) district as per the latest update was 63.

Among those detected COVID-19 positive in Kamrup (Metro) include six OPD cancer patients at the State Cancer Institute, who tested positive during routine testing. The total number of positive cases in Guwahati has already crossed the 200-mark in the last 24 hours.

Of the 40 cases detected today, 31 are from Jorhat, whileDhemaji and Biswanath recorded three and two cases respectively. Further,Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh too witnessed one positive case each.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today stated that from tomorrow the Assam Targeted Surveillance program (ATSP)  will begin and there will be nine swab collection centres across the city.

Meanwhile, the traders of the Athgaon locality havevoluntarily decided to keep their shops and establishments closed from June 15till June 21. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view ofthe escalating COVID-19 positive cases in the locality.
