Name not in NRC, woman dies

In an unfortunate incident, Sandhya Chakraborty, a woman from Mangaldoi committed suicide on Friday, allegedly triggered by "excessive stress" over non-inclusion of her name in the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

"My mother had been suffering mental harassment and agony over the past few months."- said her son.

Ever since the woman's death, a subtle anxiety has gripped the town of Mangaldoi. It may noted that suicides of people excluded from NRC trigger alarm bells in the state.
