Admitting that delays in land acquisition in Assam for national highway projects have delayed road building here, Former army chief-cum- Union Minister VK Singh today sought the cooperation of the state government and public in this regard.
Addressing an interaction ceremony in Assam BJP headquarter, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways said that land acquisition has been a problem here as population density was higher in the state.
"Land acquisition is a problem in Assam" but the Centre has held talks with the state and is taking the matter forward, he said.
"Due to lack of construction materials, we are facing difficulty in the state. This is also a reason in tardy progress of National Highways. Reportedly, a few artists of Assamese film industry like Moytree Priyadarshini Sarmah, Ahir Bhairav and Udai Sankar Bhuyan had joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister General V. K. Singh at the state BJP office, Hengerabari (Guwahati) on Tuesday.
