Commuters in Upper Assam and along the north bank of the Brahmaputra will soon be required to pay toll charges at two newly designated points on the national highways, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the process for setting up user fee collection systems at these locations.
As per reports, the NHAI has issued tenders inviting bids for the engagement of toll collection agencies at the Rangamati Fee Plaza on NH-37 near Dergaon in Golaghat district and the Ratowa Fee Plaza on NH-15 near Jinjia police station in Biswanath district.
As per the rate structure for the financial year 2025-26, toll charges at Rangamati Fee Plaza will be as follows:
For cars, jeeps, vans, or light motor vehicles: Rs 80 for a one-way trip and Rs 120 for return trips within a single day.
For light commercial vehicles, minibuses, or light goods vehicles: Rs 130 for one-way and Rs 190 for same-day return.
For buses and trucks (up to two axles): Rs 270 one-way and Rs 400 for return within a day.
Provisions for monthly passes have also been included, in accordance with NHAI norms.
The second point, Ratowa Fee Plaza, is situated near Jinjia in Biswanath district and covers the highway stretches from Dolabari to Jamuguri and from Jamuguri to Gohpur on NH-15. The toll rates notified for 2025–26 at this plaza are significantly higher, reflecting the length and classification of the highway stretch:
For cars, jeeps, vans, or light motor vehicles: Rs 200 for a one-way journey and Rs 305 for vehicles returning the same day.
For light commercial vehicles, minibuses, or light goods vehicles: Rs 325 one-way and Rs 490 for return.
For buses and two-axle trucks: Rs 685 for one-way and Rs 1,025 for return within a day.
