NRC: DGP chairs senior officers meeting

Aheadof the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC), Assam DirectorGeneral of Police, Kuladhar Saikia on Saturday held an important meeting withtop police officials of the State in Guwahati. The final NRC list is likely tobe published on July 31.

Thepolice's main intention is to prevent the build-up of any sort of fearpsychosis in the society after the publication of the final NRC, KuladharSaikia told media after the meeting.

"Allthe SPs were asked to prepare their own plan to avoid any untoward situation. Tomaintain peace, senior officers have been placed on different jobs," said anothertop Assam Police officer.

Todetect illegal immigrants, the NRC of 1951 is being updated in Assam under thesupervision of the Supreme Court.
