NRC divides Assam Congress

The rift between former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and Senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia has intensified over the recently published National Register of Citizens (NRC). Gogoi has termed NRC as a waste paper, whereas Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Debabrata Saikia has said that NRC is a constitutional document and the Congress party will extend legal aid to the genuine Indians declared ineligible for the inclusion of the NRC.
