NRC pioneer gets Lachit Award

On the occasion of Lachit Divas, Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad (TAYPA) conferred Lachit Award to Pradip Kumar Bhuyan and Banti Bhuyan (whose consistent efforts made the NRC update a reality in Assam) today (24th November) at Sankaradeva Kalashetra in Guwahati.

TAYPA felicitated the couple with the title for their heroism and true patriotism for the state, like the legendary Lachit Barphukan.

It may be mentioned that – the NRC update could become a reality because of the Bhuyans' dedication, hard work and sacrifice. Conferring the award, TAYPA said that "Our felicitation is just a small token of appreciation for their huge service to the state and the Assamese community"

The award comprised Rs 50,000 in cash.
