ONGC Makes Major Progress in Containing Assam Gas Blowout

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Saturday announced that it has made significant progress in containing the gas blowout at one of its wells in Assam, with gas flow rates having reduced substantially.

The incident occurred on June 12 at a well in the Rudrasagar oil field located at Barichuk, where an uncontrolled release of natural gas, commonly known as a blowout, was reported. The well was being operated by a private contractor, S K Petro Services, on behalf of ONGC.

In a statement, ONGC announced that it has made significant progress in controlling the well at RDS 147A, with a substantial reduction in gas flow, marking a major step forward in its containment efforts.
