Over 3000 Arunachal ILP Violators enter Assam

Over 3000 ILP (Inner Line Permit) violators in Arunachal Pradesh have been pushed back to Assam since August 17 last. Most of these Arunachal ILP violators were migrant workers from Assam.

The statewide "Operation Clean Drive" against illegal migrants and ILP violators launched by All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) enjoyed supports from local as well as the state administration.

"The ILP violators have been pushed back. We have not checked any Assam NRC documents. Most of the ILP violators are from Assam", said a police official of Arunachal Pradesh.

On Sunday, thousands of Arunachal ILP violators and illegal migrants entered Arunachal Pradesh bordering areas in Assam's Dhemaji , Lakhimpur and Biswanath district.

AASU activists kept strict vigil on migrant workers who were pushed back to Assam from Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile , the ILP Issue Committee of the All AAPSU has decided to suspend the first phase of the statewide "Operation Clean Drive". The second phase of "Operation Clean Drive" would be decided on Aug 23 by AAPSU.
