The landslide, which brought an estimated 50,000 cubic metres of debris onto the tracks near the retaining wall, has severely impacted rail connectivity to South Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur.

A high-level emergency coordination meeting was held, bringing together senior officials of NFR, the State Government, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and other relevant agencies. The collective focus: rapid clearance of the debris and restoration of rail operations with utmost safety.

Train operations on the affected section have been temporarily suspended as a safety precaution. The NFR has deployed heavy machinery and specialized teams to expedite the removal of at least 30,000 cubic metres of muck, enabling work on the damaged rail infrastructure to begin.
